Whether you’re ironing a shirt for your job interview, a dress for a date, or you like crisp sheets, you’re going to want to look for ironing accessories that are going to help make the chore a little easier, right? Of course you are! Ironing can be relaxing for some people, but that doesn’t mean you want to spend hours doing it.
We have a few ironing accessories that will help you keep your wardrobe crisp and wrinkle free. These accessories include:
An ironing board is the platform that you put your clothes on when you are going to iron them. The most common ironing board will feature metal legs that form an X and they can be collapsed for storage.
You can find a folding ironing board that can be integrated into the design of your laundry room. When you look at an iron board online, you’ll notice that they can range greatly in price, but make sure the one you choose is going to be comfortable to use whether you are standing or sitting.
An ironing pad is a heat-resistant mat that can turn any surface into an ironing board. There are heavy magnets sewn into the mat that will attach to a metal surface, like the top of your washer or dryer. These are good if you need a larger surface to iron things like sheets and the like.
A pressing cloth are just pieces of fabric that you put in between your iron and the garment you’re ironing. This cloth will protect your clothing from the direct heat (if you’re using a dry iron) so it doesn’t scorch.
You can either purchase a pressing cloth, or just use a white terry cloth towel. If you want to iron delicate fabrics like silk, lace, or an item with decals, you can get silk organza pressing clothes to protect the delicate material.
If you are using a dry iron, a spray bottle will help you moisten the fabric slightly. When you iron the clothing, the fabric won’t scorch and the wrinkles will come out much nicer.
When you’re ironing, you may notice some clothing has lint or the fabric is pilling. You’ll want to have a lint remover or a fabric shaver on hand so you can remove these things from your fabrics. These tool are also great tools to travel with because you never know when you’ll need them!
The next time you need to iron something, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got these ironing accessories on hand! You’ll find that your ironing experience goes much smoother, for sure.
